Jenny wanted to help us in our mission of making cloth menstrual pads. She’s a high school student in Connecticut and wrote two weeks ago after she found out about the simple need in Namibia and all of rural Africa and knew she could help. She wrote, “I would like to participate in your donation of Pads to Namibia! I’m gathering the materials to make them right now…I’m excited to join!!” And we’re excited to have her help and support!
Her goal was to mobilize youth in Cambridge at the youth centers where she worked for the summer. Together, she was hoping they could make 100 pads that could be sent to girls in need in Namibia. Then yesterday she sent a short update…
But she’s doing even more than that. In the picture on the left, I noticed the map of Africa she brought. She’s not only teaching them to make a much needed product, but is including a lesson about where the pads will go!
Thank you Jenny, the staff at the youth center for working with you – particularly Jessica, and especially Ana, Stephanie, Mykala and Julia for volunteering your time and skills in making cloth pads for girls in rural Africa so they have a better chance at an education! You are truly making a difference in their lives!
